Special Rodeo gives deserving kids fun
During the week of the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo the community comes together to present the Special Rodeo provided for people with special needs.
This is a special event where children and young adults who might otherwise miss out on all the fun can try their hand at roping, riding and rodeo-ing like other basin residents.
It’s a thrill for competitors without the rough and tumble spills designed to build confidence and put a smile on every face.

Rickanne Pummell rides in the Special Rodeo in Vernal
There’s calf-ropin’or steer ropin’ where contestant try their hands at tossing a rope over hay bale heads and much more.
The most popular event, of course, are the horseback rides where participant ride horses led by savvy community volunteers or is escorted by Rodeo Royalty.
The Special Rodeo is open to the public and all are welcome to cheer on participants.
