The man behind the mic, Roger Mooney, comes to you all the way from Ellijay, GA. Roger’s career began by accident in 1984 when in college, he stepped in for the scheduled rodeo announcer who had a heart attack. In short time, he went from being a contestant, to one of the best rodeo announcers in the world. 2023 will be his 19th consecutive appearance at Vernal’s Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo. In 2023, Roger announced his 7th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Some of his additional accolades include the Calgary Stampede, the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo, the National High School Rodeo Finals, and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Announcer of the Year.
Roger has announced as many as 63 rodeos in one season. In over 35 years, he has announced approximately 4,000 rodeos in North America, and counting. When not rodeoing, Mooney can be found in the recording studio making radio and TV commercials, raising registered Angus cattle or playing with his two kids, Cash and Morgan. You can also catch him on occasion on the Cowboy Channel, RFD-TV, CBS Sports Network, and the Wrangler Network.
